When the bleak room is filled with the smoke of burning anxiety; you need a way for one silver line, which may alter the course of living life. This happened to me when I was in my sophomore, with new kind energy to prove myself in a competitive world. My roommate was gone for a birthday celebration trip, which I dropped because of fear from family. For hours of hearing, lonely songs with a continuously burning joint. My room was messed up, and my mind was paining. I opened my laptop, checked the balance in the account, and decided where I can head. It was 7 in the evening with INR 7300 in my bank account. I smoked one cigarette and thought to beyond my comfort zone. Let's move somewhere to find my paradise. I packed the bag pack and called a cab with an hour, I was in the railway station without a confirmed ticket, and so the journey begins to go Shimla, a journey towards my paradise. I traveled 3000km for two consecutive days with a minimal amount of money. I went to the entire new world, which I can't imagine without going through the journey. In that itinerary, I realized why people say, "Journey is more beautiful than the destination."
Without going into my journey, I will try to conclude the lessons I learned from on my first solo trip.
1. Decide momentarily because life is in small moments.
Deciding to start, my itinerary was extraordinarily fearful and tensed because no one was aware of my plans. It could have been the worst experience, but I decided to start my travel with an idea to deal with every situation, whichever I encounter with my robust version. Reviewing the experience after three years, I am glad that I chose to go. What I learned is very simple, we have only two things in life: first, is to review our past, and the other one is to feel the present. The future is not the dimension for us to live. Each moment is the reason for the next moment, its kind of chain with infinite roots to follow. Reading my article can inspire you in a way that you changed your perception and so the change in your goals. My advice is to flow with your heart and take notice of your brain to protect you. Billions of people are thinking about something they would like to, but because they fear the future, they are not chasing what they want. In contradiction to this, there is a small group of people who chased there dream by living what they feel in a specific moment. So govern your action by living life at that particular moment.
2. You need to feel pain before receiving paradise, and paradise is not a real thing.
Each Humans feel the feelings in varying degrees, so the paradise for each once necessarily be different. For example, the laptop through which I am writing is best for me, but not for all of us. Whatever beautiful we see, maybe bliss but not the paradise. Most people feel paradise on the mountain scenarios; that's because of the feeling of aloneness, and the hold on random thoughts of mind makes peace. It is a delusion of paradise. So the question is, what the paradise for us? Paradise is a serenity in the brain when you are alone. The situation when you find your self where you need to find our paradise through different methods. Finding the way to paradise is a pain; it will take your hours, money, knowledge, etc. Some people get lost in a middle way; that's why paradise required a sacrifice of comfort. Most of us find paradise in an outer world, but you can find paradise in your room.
3. You are the ones who will suffer or feel happiness.
When I was on my solo trip, every bit was happening to only me, and I was the main protagonist in that picture. No one around was important for me. I cried for an hour about my depression and saw no one crucial for me that gave a lesson of aloneness. Aloneness is not loneliness but the feeling of singularity. It means we humans can only feel what is happening to ourselves, not to the other. This lesson made me stronger because now I can deal with things on my own. I am not saying I can do all by myself; what I am saying is I am now able to be there for myself. Overall, you are the center of your self.
4. Don't keep regrets in your cerebrum.
.
When I was about to reach my destination there was two way to reach: one through bus and other was through toy train. Most people said don't go through the toy train because its track is more than century old. However, I felt that I could get views clearer and comfortably, so I chose the toy train. When we experience a solo trip, we are the only soldier and king of our lives, no one for advice, so we get power to make decisions which form by choosing one option and leaving another. Once we start to decide our thing, we begin to appreciate taking at least a choice. Hence, our brain starts forgetting the habit of regretting it.
5. Search for more.
When I started packing my bags in a hostel room, I didn't have any fixed plan for my journey. Precisely I left room for more opportunity. I was ready to stay at a single place for a day or two or just visit and move for the next destination. In most of the spots, I was amazed to see how life is grown in the hilly area, people walking around, there clothes, scenarios at a distance place, viewing morning on a cave. However, I was not satisfied because everything was unusual in the first place. Then once I sat for more than 3 hours, my curiosity increases to visit a new location. This feeling of more search means I was not close to seeing my paradise. There were lots of questions in my mind all the time. But as I previously said, search up to the place where you will be out of insecurity, and that will be your paradise. Moreover, it is not compulsory to have only one paradise or peace; we can have others too, which may teach you a lot more. Hence, search for more.
6. Experiencing new things is called out of the box.
When you start your journey, then you will feel some kind of strange anxiety, newness. Similarly, on a solo trip, you will think about your past and revisit all of your problems, but due to this anxiety of newness, your approach will be from a different perspective. All artists are likely to go on a solo trip because our mind gets reactivated due to the fear of unknowns. In an unknown location, our mind starts thinking way above its limits. Therefore, artists use this power to feel different emotions and search the truth of there ultimate goal.
7. The original version of life can be seen through the eyes of death.
I was on the train, sitting on the doorstep to see the closer look of the valley. I became so crazy to see that, but unfortunately, my leg was about to touch the pol who was closed to the rail route. My heartbeat burst in a second; my brain got trauma, but after some time, I felt the value of life. I saw life is fundamentally beautiful, which I am living, no matter what problem is, there will always be a hope of a good time that faith is gorgeous. Hence, my advice is to live your life full of positivity; otherwise, death will undertake whatever you have.
8. Travelers will not stay for longer.
It was six in the evening in a new location and I decided to drink a couple of drinks. The bar was a local and only place to drink. I seat on the table near a lady who was eventually a traveler too, she was in her 30s; the waiter poured a glass of wine on my side. I asked about her, and she was also curious to know about me. Once we take much of vodka, she asked me to come to her place to stay for a night. I was happy because my stay was with Buddhist monks. As we get into her room, we drink two cans of beer that gave makes us out of control. We both were desperate to have sex, so we intimate for that night in every possible way. In the morning we made satisfy with each other for a while, but later she said: "she needs to go to catch her bus". For the next whole day, I was upset about not able to see her. But here is the catch, we all are travelers, and everyone has a different path to follow, which leads to separation. Two travelers cross each other's path enjoyed for a while and then need to start the journey once again. This is similar for lovers, they met to live up to death. One remains, and others go (If both died same time then they are luck)
9. Accept what comes to you.
Living in a moderate life, I have never been a situation to think about my next meal. But on the solo-momentary-travel, I went through a situation where healthy food was mistakenly available. After the trip, I never asked for anything from parents or friend, I accepted everything whatever I get. I only try to give more to unprivileged people but never demand others to give me something. I dream about a happy life, not an elite experience.
10. Find a unique way to live life.
All the solo travelers love to be alone for mainly two reasons; first is to feel our ability, and the second one is to question our capacity. Once we ask questions about our capacity, we start to challenge every problem to see ourselves successful. Once we get over the problem, you will find that this was different from others. That's it. You are entirely different in every single way, so uniquely live life. I am not saying live life weirdly, but the way you choose should not be copied from someone else.
11. Life is very limited, but not insufficient.
I think this the best lesson which I got from my first solo trip. Life has a limited period of time in which we can't achieve everything available. But if you find the purpose and aim for your life, then this life is sufficient to complete your mission. Hence, work hard to see how we are adequate to achieve.
My advice to all the readers is if you have experienced to challenge your capacity then pack your bag and go solo (Not in a pandemic)
